The contract aims to support EFSA’s emerging risk identification by prioritising and analysing the composition of food supplements made of plants reported to contain substances with QSAR-predicted carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic properties. The work will build on existing EFSA and Member State activities and help EFSA and Member Stated competent authorities to decide how to follow-up on this issue.

The tenderer must have generated an overall annual turnover of at least 200.000 € in each of the last 2 closed financial years (2023 and 2024).

Analytical chemistry, including multi-analyte detection and sampling design for food and feed products 2. Quality assurance/control and method performance evaluation, such as validation, verification, and statistical data management 3. Interpretation of analytical results in food safety or regulatory contexts, with expertise in food supplements
a) 1 senior expert in food supplements, holding a relevant university degree (Master or Bachelor) and with at least 5 years of working experience covering analytical chemistry, and regulatory interpretation of analytical results; b) 1 junior expert in laboratory analytics, holding a relevant university degree (Master or Bachelor) and with at least 2 years of working experience covering laboratory analytical work, data handling and results interpretation, or without a university degree and at least 3 years' experience covering laboratory analytical work, data handling and results interpretation.
The senior expert must have for each expert individually an excellent level of spoken and written standard UK English. For non-native speakers, this must be demonstrated by an Official certificate of English proving a C1 level OR at least 3 years of work in an English-speaking environment or a research publication in English, or at least 3 projects/publications authored or co-authored in English.
The tenderer must have access to technical equipment and tools suitable to comply with the specific requirements for laboratory analyses and data handling as referred under Specific Objective 3.
